What this feature does #
When anonymous call blocking is on, your Akuvox door phone refuses any incoming call that hides its caller ID. Calls that show a number or name should still ring through, but see the warning below.
The feature is off by default. You turn it on or off for each door phone from your phone system portal.
Warning: on some door phone firmware versions, turning this feature on blocks all outside calls, not only anonymous ones. After turning it on, always test with a normal outside call as described in When the change takes effect. If that call is refused too, turn the feature off and contact DataPhone support.
Turn it on #
Add one setting to the door phone’s device page and save.
- Log in to your phone system portal.
- Go to Accounts > Devices.
- Click the door phone. You can find it by its MAC address or description.
- Scroll down to the Settings section.
- In the empty row, fill in:
| Field | Enter |
|---|---|
| Name | akuvox_reject_anonymous_call |
| Value | true |
| Enabled | True |
| Description | Block anonymous calls (optional) |
- Click Save at the top of the page.
Type the Name exactly as shown, all lowercase with underscores. If it is misspelled, the door phone ignores it and the feature stays off.
Turn it off #
Change the same setting so the door phone accepts anonymous calls again. Pick one option:
- Change the Value from
truetofalse, then click Save.
Do not turn the feature on or off in the door phone’s own web page. The phone system resets that choice to match the portal the next time the door phone updates.
To check that it worked, call the door phone from a phone with caller ID hidden. With the feature on, the call is refused. With it off, the door phone rings.
Then call the door phone from an outside number with caller ID showing. It should ring. If it is refused, your door phone’s firmware is blocking all outside calls: turn the feature off and contact DataPhone support.
