📞 Caller ID Reputation & Spam Labeling #
If your outbound calls are showing up as “Spam Likely”, “Scam Risk”, or similar on your recipients’ caller ID, your number may have been flagged by one or more caller ID reputation registries. These labels are controlled by third-party analytics providers—not by Dataphone or the carriers directly.
❓ Why Is My Number Being Flagged? #
Several factors can lead to your number being incorrectly marked as spam:
- High outbound call volume in a short time
- Robocall-like patterns (e.g., short, repeated calls with no voicemail)
- Recipients manually marking your number as spam
- Incomplete or misleading caller ID name (CNAM) information
Even legitimate business calls can be flagged if they match certain risk criteria.
🛠 What You Can Do #
To correct or check your number’s status, you can submit it for review directly to the major caller ID analytics registries used by mobile carriers:
Registry Provider | Review / Submission Link |
---|---|
Hiya | hiya.com/register |
First Orion | calltransparency.com |
TNS / Neustar | reportarobocall.com |
Free Caller Registry(feeds all 3 above) | freecallerregistry.com |
💡 Tip: Submitting through FreeCallerRegistry is the most efficient method, as it covers Hiya, First Orion, and TNS simultaneously.
✅ Best Practices to Prevent Flagging #
- Use a valid and consistent Caller ID Name (CNAM)
- Avoid excessive or repetitive outbound calling
- Don’t spoof or change your caller ID frequently
- Respect call compliance regulations (e.g., TCPA, DNC lists)
- Let calls go to voicemail instead of hanging up after one ring
