How to Get Your Phone Number Listed in LexisNexis

Applies To: Individuals, Businesses, Law Firms

🧾 Overview

LexisNexis is a data aggregator that compiles public and proprietary data for use in background checks, identity verification, and legal research. If you want your phone number listed in LexisNexis (for business, verification, or visibility purposes), you need to ensure it is linked to verified, public-facing records.

⚠️ Please note:

Dataphone does not have the legal or physical ability to submit or alter records in the LexisNexis database on behalf of customers. All updates must be initiated directly by the individual or business owner via the steps below.

🔧 Steps to Get Your Phone Number Listed

✅ 1. Make Sure Your Number Is Publicly Associated With You

LexisNexis pulls data from public and official records. To increase the chance of your number appearing:

  • Register your number on public business directories:
    • Yellow Pages
    • Yelp for Business
    • Dun & Bradstreet
  • Include the number on your:
    • Business website
    • Utility bills (if filed under a business or professional name)
    • Social media business profiles (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
  • Use the number on documents filed with the Secretary of State (if you’re a registered business)

✅ 2. Submit a Request to LexisNexis (Manual Option)

If you’d like to manually confirm or update your listing, follow these steps:

📍 LexisNexis Consumer Center:

  • Go to: https://consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/request
  • Select: “I want to request my consumer disclosure report”
  • Submit a request to:
    • View your current data
    • Add or correct your phone number
  • You may need to upload ID verification documents

🛑 Optional: Request Removal

If your number is listed and you want to opt out, use:

💡 Tips

  • Use consistent Name, Address, and Phone Number (NAP) across all directories.
  • Listings from government, utility, and legal sources are prioritized by LexisNexis.
  • Business listings are more likely to appear than personal ones unless the personal number is tied to public records.
